What is the typical lead time for distribution transformers?

Standard distribution transformers: 12–14 weeks EXW. Pad-mounted and cast resin units: 14–16 weeks EXW. Power transformers (>10 MVA): 42–46 weeks EXW. Fast-track options are available for urgent requirements — contact our sales team for expedited schedules.

Lead time is one of the most critical factors in transformer procurement, especially for infrastructure projects with tight commissioning deadlines. At ETS, we maintain one of the shortest lead times in the industry thanks to our vertically integrated manufacturing model and strategic inventory management.

Distribution Transformers (50 kVA – 5 MVA): 12–14 weeks EXW from our Dubai facility. This includes design, material procurement, core stacking, winding, assembly, oil processing, and full routine testing per IEC 60076. For repeat orders with standard specifications, lead times can be as short as 8–10 weeks.

Cast Resin Dry-Type Transformers: 14–16 weeks EXW. The epoxy casting process requires additional curing time, and the specialised moulds add complexity. However, we maintain standard mould sizes in stock to minimise delays.

Pad-Mounted Transformers (UL Listed): 14–16 weeks EXW. UL listing requirements include specific documentation and inspection protocols that add to the timeline.

Power Transformers (6–200 MVA): 42–46 weeks EXW for standard designs. This includes design engineering (6–8 weeks), material procurement (8–12 weeks for CRGO steel and copper), manufacturing (16–20 weeks), and testing (2–4 weeks). KEMA-witnessed short-circuit testing adds 2–4 weeks for scheduling.

Fast-Track Programme: For emergency replacements or urgent projects, we offer an expedited manufacturing programme that can reduce distribution transformer lead times to 6–8 weeks. This involves priority scheduling, pre-procured materials, and overtime manufacturing. Contact our sales team for availability and pricing.
