IEC 60076 Market
Power Infrastructure
in United Arab Emirates.
ETS is headquartered in Jebel Ali, Dubai and is an approved vendor with all four UAE distribution utilities — DEWA, ADDC, SEWA and FEWA. Over 15,000 transformers delivered to UAE projects since 1987, with on-site ISO/IEC 17025 testing and direct factory FAT for every order.
Market context
Grid topology, regulation & demand drivers.
The UAE distribution network is split between four utilities — DEWA (Dubai), ADDC (Abu Dhabi), SEWA (Sharjah) and FEWA (northern emirates) — each maintaining its own approved-vendor list, technical regulations and witnessed-FAT protocols. Voltage levels span 11/22/33 kV at MV and 132/220/400 kV at transmission. The 50°C ambient design point, salt-laden coastal air and sustained loading from cooling-dominant demand drive a tropicalised IEC 60076 specification with copper windings, mineral-oil insulation and conservator preservation as the procurement default. Sealed hermetic units and ester-filled designs are increasingly specified for indoor substations and data-centre applications. Demand is shaped by Vision 2031 grid investment, 5 GW+ of solar PV under DEWA IPP rounds, the Etihad Rail traction-power programme and the data-centre cluster around DIC and Masdar. ETS manufactures locally in Jebel Ali, holds direct framework agreements with all four utilities and operates an ISO/IEC 17025-accredited high-voltage lab on site for source-of-supply testing — eliminating shipping risk on witnessed FAT and reducing typical lead times to 8–14 weeks for distribution and 16–22 weeks for power transformers up to 60 MVA.

Frequently Asked Questions — United Arab Emirates
Lead times for projects in United Arab Emirates depend on the specification, scope of supply, order volume and prevailing factory load. Distribution transformers (11–33 kV, up to 5 MVA) typically build and test faster than power transformers (33–132 kV, up to 60 MVA), and EHV units above 132 kV require the longest manufacturing and testing windows. Every quoted programme includes witnessed Factory Acceptance Testing at our Jebel Ali high-voltage lab and agreed delivery terms, across the 6 cities we serve in United Arab Emirates. Please contact ETS with your technical schedule for a project-specific delivery plan.
