The US transformer market operates under a dual regulatory framework: federal energy efficiency mandates from the DOE and technical performance standards from IEEE/ANSI and UL. The DOE 2016 efficiency standards (10 CFR 431) are currently enforced, with updated DOE 2024 levels taking effect in 2027. UL Listing is mandatory for utility-grade transformers in most jurisdictions. ETS holds UL Listing for pad-mounted transformers — a rare achievement for a manufacturer outside North America.

    Key Requirements

DOE 2016 efficiency standards (10 CFR 431) — currently enforced
DOE 2024 updated efficiency levels — effective January 2027
    ANSI/IEEE C57.12.00 (liquid-immersed transformers)
    ANSI/IEEE C57.12.34 (pad-mounted transformers)
UL 1562 (dry-type transformers) — UL Listing mandatory
UL 1561 (liquid-filled distribution transformers) — UL Listing mandatory
NEMA TP-1 efficiency tables for dry-type transformers
    NEC Article 450 installation compliance
Buy America Act compliance for government-funded projects
CSA C802.1 and C802.2 for Canadian cross-border supply

    ETS Compliance Status

Full DOE and IEEE compliance. UL Listed pad-mounted transformers — one of the few non-North American manufacturers to hold UL Listing. DOE 2024-ready designs available for forward-looking procurement. IEEE C57 type-tested at accredited laboratories. Active supply to US data centre and renewable energy markets.
