Are your transformers suitable for hazardous (ATEX) environments?
Yes. Our oil & gas range is designed for hazardous area classification (Zone 1 & Zone 2) per ATEX and IECEx standards. Features include hermetic sealing, C5-M marine-grade corrosion protection, explosion-proof accessories, and specialised cable termination boxes.
Transformers installed in oil & gas facilities — refineries, gas processing plants, LNG terminals, offshore platforms, and petrochemical complexes — must meet stringent requirements for operation in potentially explosive atmospheres.
ATEX Directive (2014/34/EU) classifies equipment for use in explosive atmospheres within the European Economic Area. IECEx is the international equivalent. Both require that electrical equipment in hazardous zones cannot become a source of ignition.
ETS Hazardous Area Features
- Hermetic sealing: Fully sealed tank eliminates oil-to-atmosphere contact, preventing gas release in Zone 1/Zone 2 areas
- C5-M corrosion protection: Marine-grade paint system per ISO 12944 with 320–500 μm dry film thickness, designed for offshore and coastal environments with high salt and chemical exposure
- Explosion-proof accessories: All external devices (pressure relief, temperature indicators, oil level gauges, marshalling boxes) are certified Ex d or Ex e for the applicable zone classification
- Cable termination boxes: Specialised Ex-rated cable boxes with appropriate gland plates for armoured cables
- Ester fluid option: KNAN cooling with ester fluid provides additional fire safety (360°C fire point) in hazardous environments
Applications: Our ATEX-certified transformers are deployed across major oil & gas projects in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Iraq, and East Africa. Clients include national oil companies, international oil companies, and major EPC contractors.
