Market context
Grid topology, regulation & demand drivers.
Egypt's grid is operated by the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) under the Egyptian Electric Utility & Consumer Protection Regulatory Agency (EgyptERA), with seven regional distribution companies covering distinct geographic zones. Transmission voltages are 220/500 kV with 66/132 kV sub-transmission and 11/22/33 kV distribution. EETC specifications follow IEC 60076 with 50°C ambient design and 1500 m altitude correction for Upper Egypt. Egypt is one of the largest solar markets in MENA, anchored by the 1.8 GW Benban Solar Park near Aswan — a complex of 41 plants requiring hundreds of step-up transformers — plus a growing onshore wind cluster on the Gulf of Suez. The New Administrative Capital east of Cairo, the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) covering 461 km² across six ports and four industrial zones, and the high-speed rail network connecting Alexandria–Cairo–Aswan all require massive distribution and traction-power capacity. ETS manufactures EETC and Cairo Electricity Distribution-approved units from Jebel Ali with sea-freight to Sokhna or Damietta. Local content options through Suez Canal Zone partners support EgyptERA's localisation framework.

Frequently Asked Questions — Egypt
Lead times for projects in Egypt depend on the specification, scope of supply, order volume and prevailing factory load. Distribution transformers (11–33 kV, up to 5 MVA) typically build and test faster than power transformers (33–132 kV, up to 60 MVA), and EHV units above 132 kV require the longest manufacturing and testing windows. Every quoted programme includes witnessed Factory Acceptance Testing at our Jebel Ali high-voltage lab and agreed delivery terms, across the 3 cities we serve in Egypt. Please contact ETS with your technical schedule for a project-specific delivery plan.
