UL Listing
Certification by Underwriters Laboratories that a product meets specific safety standards. Mandatory for utility-grade transformers in North America.
UL 1562 covers dry-type transformers, UL 1561 covers liquid-filled distribution transformers. UL Listing involves: initial product evaluation, factory inspection, and ongoing surveillance audits (WTDP — Witness Test Data Program). The UL mark signifies compliance with North American safety requirements including fire resistance, insulation integrity, and electrical safety. ETS holds UL Listing for pad-mounted transformers — one of very few manufacturers outside North America to achieve this certification.
