What is the typical lead time for distribution transformers?
Lead times are scheduled per project specification and confirmed at order acknowledgement. They depend on rating, voltage class, customisation, testing scope and freight terms (EXW or DAP). Fast-track options are available for urgent requirements — contact our sales team for an expedited slot.
Lead time is one of the most critical factors in transformer procurement, especially for infrastructure projects with tight commissioning deadlines. At ETS we schedule and confirm lead times against the agreed project specification, with manufacturing slot, freight terms (EXW or DAP) and witnessed-FAT date all captured at order acknowledgement.
Distribution Transformers (50 kVA – 5 MVA): Manufacturing covers design, material procurement, core stacking, winding, assembly, oil processing, and full routine testing per IEC 60076. For repeat orders with standard specifications, accelerated slots are available subject to material lead times.
Cast Resin Dry-Type Transformers: The epoxy casting process requires additional curing time and specialised moulds add complexity. We maintain standard mould sizes in stock to minimise delays.
Pad-Mounted Transformers (UL Listed): UL listing requirements include specific documentation and inspection protocols that add to the timeline.
Power Transformers (6–200 MVA): Programme is built from design engineering, material procurement (CRGO steel and copper), manufacturing, and testing; witnessed short-circuit testing is scheduled with the chosen high-power lab.
Fast-Track Programme: For emergency replacements or urgent projects, we offer an expedited manufacturing programme with priority scheduling, pre-procured materials, and overtime manufacturing. Contact our sales team for availability and pricing.
